Imagine a person reading 2 novels per month that’s 24 novels in a year. Suppose you read 10 novels per month that’s 120 novels in a year. By the end of the year, you are more knowledgeable than the first person.

It sounds good, right? However, reaching that point requires dedication and effort.

My Journey

1 year earlier, I saw my friend reading a novel and considered diving into this new world. Initially, my speed was 1 novel in the first month and I flipped through dictionary pages madly. In 2nd month, I read 2 novels and later on increased it to 4-5 novels per month. At 9th month, I pushed through my limit and read 8 novels. So, my 10th month’s target was 10 novels, and needless to say, I read 13 novels that month.

Tips

  • Choose novels that interest you – fictional or non-fictional. I recommend reading both of them to make reading fun & engaging.
  • Read 2-3 novels in parallel. The idea is simple – when you get bored with one novel, pick another one. Sometimes, I read 5 novels in parallel.
  • Keep a mix of novels that are over 400 pages, 250 pages, and 100 pages.
  • Keep a variety of novels in different genres. This allows you to read based on your mood.

Reading More is Bad

Reading 30 novels in a month is counterproductive. You need time to digest the information and you have other priorities as well. Devoting your whole day to reading is something I won’t recommend.
